The Best Forgiveness Book on the Market
I received the Ph.D. degree in one of the most research-oriented universities in the country. Therefore, any time an author purports to have discovered a new and effective program, I tend to ask, "Has this program been scientifically tested?" Most "self-help" books are based on impressions and opinions only, not science. This book, however, is the grand exception. Forgiveness Is a Choice is based on years of research into how people forgive. The research is strong and the results also strong. I gave this book as a gift to a friend who had a very serious break up with someone years ago. After reading the book, she decided to take the risk of forgiving and reconciling with the other person from whom she was estranged for years. The book provided the necessary help to get the reconciliation process started. My friend credits this book with the success. "I am sold on the power of forgiveness," she said. The reader is given systematic exercises in the forgiving process. You start with...

THE ABILITY TO FORGIVE. - IT SETS THE SPIRIT FREE!
Sometimes we need to forgive ourselves, at other times we need to forgive others. Easier said that done - yes! However, each of us does posses the inate ability to forgive if we choose to make use of that special blessing. As a counsellor, I have counselled many victims of domestic violence, child abuse and family tragedies. It is important to remember one is not forgiving simply for the benefit of the person who has committed an injustice; one is forgiving as part of the process of healing. Only by coming to terms with the demons of the past can one truly heal and build a future. The reasons and means of forgiving are contained in this wonderful book.Enright is not a person talking in terms of one who has been there and done that, nor does he speak in a condescending tone which implies, "this worked for me, so this will work for everyone." "Forgiveness is a Choice" is written by a professional who is both a psychologist and professor. An unforgiving...

A Helpful Book, Really
I have read at least 30 books on forgiveness and have to say this one is in the top three. The process of forgiving is clearly outlined and you are gently encouraged to walk through it. Enright provides suggestions for journaling, including sending you back to reveiw your progress in the process. The examples he uses are realistic and constructive, everything from children of divorced parents to parents of murdered children. Most of the examples show how the person felt during the different stages of forgiving.Although Enright does mention God and even suggests journaling your belief, he doesn't emphasize that God can help us walk through the forgiveness process. That would be my only criticism. If you really want to get over your anger, this book would help you go a long way toward your goal.

Product Description

Forgiveness Is a Choice is a self-help book for people who have been deeply hurt by another and caught in a vortex of anger, depression, and resentment. As a creator of the first scientifically proven forgiveness program in the country, Robert D. Enright shows how forgiveness can reduce anxiety and depression while increasing self-esteem and hopefulness toward one's future. This groundbreaking work demonstrates how forgiveness, approached in the correct manner, benefits the forgiver far more than the forgiven. Filled with wisdom and warm encouragement, the book leads the reader on a path that will bring clarity and peace. Enright is careful to distinguish forgiveness from "pseudoforgiveness" and to reassure readers that forgiveness does not mean accepting continued abuse or even reconciling with the offender. Rather, by giving the gift of forgiveness, readers are encouraged to confront and let go of their pain in order to regain their lives. Top to learn more

Life-changing reading
As a medical doctor, one of the most important problems that I encounter among my patients is that of bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness. It is a major reason why people don't heal. This book offers extremely practical information and refer many of my patients to it for reading. It is the best book that I have seen on the subject of forgiveness and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Amazing Insight
This book has totally changed my life. RT Kendall offers an amazing piece of work that, as you discover from the book, was born out of his own personal experience. The book is full of practical teaching about what our misconceptions of forgiveness are and what true Godly forgiveness is. This is not a book that tries to being a complex formula to forgiveness but rather it tries to explain from biblical concepts the importance of choosing to forgive those who have hurt us and our loved ones. I read it on the recommendation of a friend and have been thoroughly blessed.

Just what HE had in mind
This is an awesome book. R.T. Kendall goes beyond just forgiveness here. He shows us how God not only wants us to forgive, but to take it to the next level which is to bless those we have forgiven. He provides insight to why we may be holding grudges and understanding to why some people have difficulty in forgiving and how we can handle it. I definitely will re-read this one over and over.

Total Forgiveness Revised and Updated

By R. T. Kendall

R.T. Kendall has given us a treasure…the hope and possibility of experiencing incredible freedom and peace that can only come when we walk in total forgiveness.

One of the core messages of the gospel is that of total forgiveness…not only that we can be totally forgiven by God, but also that we must, in turn, totally forgive others. Our culture is bound up in bitterness, resentment, and wallowing in wounds inflicted upon us by others, wounds that we all too easily accept and even cling to!

This revised and updated best seller lovingly challenges believers to look within and root out those hidden and hardened places where subtle resentments and areas of un-forgiveness have been allowed to remain.

Author Information
R. T. Kendall was the pastor of Westminster Chapel in London, England for twenty-five years. He is well known internationally as a speaker and teacher. Dr. Kendall is the author of more than forty books, including The Thorn in the Flesh, Grace, In Pursuit of His Glory, The Sensitivity of the Spirit, Total Forgiveness, Pure Joy, Just Say Thanks! and The Anointing: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. What I was feeling is okay!
I purchased this book on a wednesday and had it finished by sunday. I couldn't put it down, it had covered many of the feelings I was going through and it made me not feel so alone in my battle to get on with life. It has many techniques that I was reluctant at first to try, but I am glad I did. I honestly didn't realize I had issues with so many people rather they were big or small it didn't matter. They still hurt me regardless. I can accept that now. When the book sets the stage for all the phases you go through to reach forgivness I found myself a little bit in each one along the way.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is merely questioning what is causing or creating a certain feeling. It expounded on feelings that I had but could not describe adequatly enough to begin dealing with them.Thank you to the authors.

Dig deep to find freedom from the pain of your past!
This is an incredible book! Take the time to complete the exercises, you will not be sorry. Some of the tasks seemed mundane but when I was finished, I felt lighter. For me, this book was more effective that 5 years of psycho-therapy combined with anti-depressants. I have FINALLY achieved freedom from my childhood traumas!!

Genuine, clear and very helpful!
The author writes in a very clear and unpretentious manner. He simply states what is and what is necessary to heal. In a uncomplicated and genuine tone Dr. Simon makes you feel that there is hope and your aren't a bad person for being 'stuck'. I read the book as voraciously as I wouold have a novel finding compassion for myself as I read. It is very simply a great book.

I loved the book
I agree with everything these authors say. However, I did not always think this way. A few years ago I purchase a copy of the book An Encounter With A Prophet. The author advanced similar ideas about forgiveness. I was impressed with some of the concepts but failed to use the techniques suggested regarding resentments. Then one night walking home from work, I was attacked by a mugger. Coming up from behind me, out of the shadows, the mugger managed to hid me twice the back of the head before I knew what was happening. Due to space limitations I will skip the details of what followed suffice it to say when the ambulance picked me up off the street , I was drenched in my own blood. On the way to the hospital my mind started to race. Having grown up as a fighter, I vowed to find this man and evoke some Charles Bronson style justice. As I engaged in this type of thinking, in my mind's eye I could feel and see the mugger sneaking up behind me getting ready to hit me - something...

Dr. Jampolsky's book is both enlightening and encouraging
This new book by Gerald G.Jampolsky is an intelligent, insightful, and compassionate guide concerning the role that the process of forgiveness plays in individual lives. Remaining true to his professional "calling" as a well-known psychiatrist and personal beliefs in attitudinal healing(i.e. replacing the negative, destructive emotion of fear with the powerful, transforming, liberating force of love), Dr. Jampolsky provides the reader with a practical "forgiveness guide" enabling the reader to heal troublesome relationships. In a warmly conversational tone, he presents numerous 'stepping stones' to assist people in acheiving peace and love in all their relationships. This mind-set transformation leads to the common goal of forgiveness. Once again, Dr. Jampolsky has written a thoroughly enjoyable and easy-to-read book ! This book gave me a new important idea.
This book says that any thoughts come from one of two emotions: love or fear. If you choose love, you don't experience fear. If you choose fear, you don't experience love. This is very simple, but if you understand it truly, you can change your life. When you are suffering from something, you can ask to yourself "Will you choose love or fear?". When you can't say "Yes, I choose love", what should you do? This book shows: Use magic. That's forgiveness. This magic is only for you, and only you can use this.

Product Description

This is a small book with a big message: if we are to heal ourselves and learn to live with each other in love and harmony, forgiveness must become as important and regular as breathing. The first chapter offers a number of powerful stories chosen to open the reader's heart to forgiveness. Subsequent chapters explain why so many of us find it so difficult to forgive, and why holding onto grievances is really a decision to suffer. He describes the causes of being unforgiving, how the mind works in this process, and the ultimate negative effects this attitude can exert on our bodies and our lives in general.

Written in direct, accessible language, the book approaches its subject from a practical standpoint rather than a deep psychological or religious perspective. Top to learn more

Highly Recommended and very timely!
As with all great books, it is not so much what is written, but where it leads you. And this book leads the reader(if they are ready)on the first steps of a wonderful journey where one can lovingly let go of what is holding us back from being who we really are.In that discovery we can find out the answers to those elusive questions,"Who am I?" "What am I here for?" Believe me this journey can be a little confronting in the beginning and if one is not ready to let go of one's garbage I can see where some people may react negatively. I was so impressed with the results in my life, I hired the author to come up to our company and do the two day workshop with all our staff. It was the best thing we could have done. The changes in over 50 people have been genuine and positively impacted our business.Personally I would recommend the workshop, the book is great but I feel the opportunity for spiritual growth is limited in reading a book.

Really works!
Although there is a lot of material here that I have already incorporated into my spiritual life, there were three key things that helped me tremendously. 1. You can't "force" yourself to forgive...it just doesn't work...and it won't work until you're ready -- and that's OK. 2. It's OK to be angry -- just don't let it become addictive; and it's ok to express anger -- as long as it is done in a cleansing, healing manner; and 3. Freeing that "wounded" part of yourself that has been kept deep inside you for a long time. It's really up to you. It's your choice to forgive yourself for giving away your personal power...or it's your choice to remain in a state of pain and sorrow. Make the choice to forgive yourself -- you will find out just how free and powerful you become!

A superb technique to change your life
As a Unity minister who has been on the "path" for years, I didn't expect to find much new or valuable in this book. But I certainly did. Ideas came "alive" that formerly had been interesting concepts, but not REAL and practical. Since everything is actually happening "now", conscious actions chosen today can heal both Present problems and patterns created by events in the "Past". Traumatic events have powerful emotions attached. These emotions form patterns that create similar events and feelings over and over again in your life. Unfortunately, many of these patterns were formed when you were a child, so they're usually wrong and downright dangerous. Yet they repeat the same situations wearing new costues. They distort our present.Normally we like to blame others for all our problems. We dearly love to tell everyone how we have been victimized. "He done me wrong!" is a world class theme. However,If you can...

    Looking For Forgiveness

He looked over at Mike who seemed just as tempted before looking over at Jimmy. The cloth Jimmy had been resting on her forehead now lay on Billie's chest having fallen off at some point, most likely when Jimmy had fallen asleep as his arm was draped around his chest much like Gloria's. He looked to his left to see Jimmy still leaning against him, fast asleep and comfortable while covered in a blanket that had been draped over Billie as well. When he looked to his right, he saw Gloria fast asleep as well, one arm still wrapped around him and her head resting in the plain between his shoulder and chest. " Billie promised, leaning forward as he looked his daughter in the eye with a reassuring and warm smile. He unzipped his hoodie and draped it over his daughter before leaning down once more and looking at her with the same reassuring smile. She was still bundled up in her blanket, but she looked comfortable rather than too cold or too warm. He tried to think of something that might prove what he was saying and as he looked at Mike, he quickly got an idea. She looked over at the two men as though asking them if they were so sure about their decisions. " The younger man hinted, Billie giving a nod as he thought about the temptation of a hot shower, a warm bed and maybe even some time to collect his thoughts about what was happening. He felt a smile reach his face as he realized how comfortable he was between his two youngest children and used as a pillow of comfort. And seeing as Gloria's personality was so much like his, it made sense that Adrienne would be able to connect with her.

She still looked at him with recognition, but rather than looking confused or even angry, she almost looked like she was pleading with him. He watched her for a moment, surprised and unsure of what to do as his hand smoothed down her hair before he looked up at his lover as if in confusion. She still looked victimized, making him wonder just what it was she was seeing in her dreams to make her feel so unsettled and frightened. How could he. That grateful stare that had morphed from one of recognition meant more than what his second-guessing would have allowed him to believe and finally, Billie allowed himself to think that Gloria really had been calling out to him in... As Gloria stared at him after waking from an obvious nightmare, Billie felt surprise when it wasn&rsquo. He said gently, resting his forehead against hers as he wished she would wake up. It took another moment of reassuring and softly spoken words before she finally opened her eyes, jade meeting his similar pair before he pulled away and offered a... t want Mike to know, but on occasion, his eyes had drifted down to the bandages on Gloria&rsquo. But unlike the first time she had woken up, Gloria didn&rsquo. She had actually allowed his hand to hold hers and rather than pulling away, her grip had tightened just a little as her tears began to slowly come to a stop. Gloria, wake up. It&rsquo. But in that moment, he didn&rsquo. t believe it was his fault, Billie couldn&rsquo. t help but wonder if he had something to do with his daughter&rsquo.
